From SJ's blog...

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine and cold

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] From previous

It talks about life of 80 years and how we should go about living it. I'll try to interpret the remainder for SJ, that is if I'm "pro" enuff.

Going off from where SJ stopped...

Reverent XingYun explains:

The 80 storeys is just like 80 years of life. We have limitless youth and energy in life at the 20th storey. At the 40th storey, life's burden such as kids and finance takes our toll just like the luggage. It is at this time that people manage to leave/endure the burden and carry on climbing to the 60th storey, which by then our stamina has dwindled - but being human we have to continue improving ourselves and climb upwards with a weakened body and soul carried along with old age. When we eventually reach 80th storey, we do not possess any energy to turn back and open the door to happiness.

Our dear readers, you too have 80 storeys of life, how would you want to lead your life at each storey? Life is just like climbing stairs, you can look afar when you are high up above - but surviving the chill while you are up above is difficult, going down the steps requires great effort and care. A special milestone awaits you after walking through the steps and reaching the point whereby you do not require climbing any stairs.

The quotations are tough, I better don't try them. Haha.

A new workplace, new life, new challenges?

[CuRRent MooD:] Tired

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Iced Milk Tea

It is my 4th working day today (okay it's the 5th working day of the week but unfortunately I was on MC on Wednesday so hence the numbers) - things have been fine so far, on off stupid issues like the M1 iPhone promo and stuff, things are still okay at the moment.

Nothing too new on the new job apart the switch commands (we'll be handling basic Cisco switch commands) and the monthly reports doesn't look too tough apart from it being mundane (of course, bearing in comparison with good old days in GSK, such reports are like nothing of that sort). Then again, have such a simple reporting system in the new place does have its plus and minus. I hope I have enough chances to learn something new from the job so I can add on more value...well of course, then now being "Team Lead" certainly adds that little more credibility to my resume on my next job when will my real challenge come? ;)

Things aside, usually at this time of the year I'll be blogging about Christmas and stuff and guess I should be. And I should be catching up on my graduation stuff but the pics are mostly in my facebook account. Do look for me if you know me personally in life or if you play apps like Castle Age.

See ya!

An Apple a day will start keeping people away

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine but irritable (stiff neck condition)

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Milo

Sorry for boring everyone with IT stuff, but the next news caught me off guard. Article from Ars Technica, Apple refuses under warranty products is returned for repairs due to the fact they belong to smokers.

I'm not a fan of smoking; in fact I hate the smell - however this came too much of a surprise as it seems to infringe into human rights, but of course from an employer's point of view, you wouldn't want your employees to be exposed to "hazardous materials" i.e. nicotine and tar. I do think this is already a bit overdoing it, as one of the comments say, it's not that you cannot work with it, just that you need to take appropriate measures to protect your employees.

Then again, Apple really has weird guidelines when they do their stuff, be it the App Store or now, their warranties.

Viewing Apple's World

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Ikea's Christmas Hot Plate / Iced Lemon Tea

Someone has provided a nice article about viewing Apple differently from other companies:

ComputerWorld: Four Things you need to know about Apple

Of note:

- Everything Apple sells is an Apple product

After reading the article, you have to agree what the author said is right. Everything that Apple makes and uses, they treat it as theirs.

- Apple products are disposable

Upon thinking how they make the products, all are built in batteries. Since batteries in most mindsets are somehowwhat disposable, I must say they have a unique view about the gadgets they make. Maybe even their laptops.

- Nothing exists unless Apple sells it

This emphasizes just how much Apple lives in their own world. I have nothing too much to say about it though.

- Apple doesn't want to be a successful business

I believe this view is written with a tinge of humour in it. I do not believe any business wants to operate without profit, but I must say that Apple does it in a way that when they do things they want it to be good and popular.

Google Jokes

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine and smiling

[CuRRent Song:] Dunno

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Mixed Vege Rice / Pearl Milk Tea

Guys, have you heard of Google Jokes?

Bet you haven't - because I've recently discovered it. No no's not a goofy thing that Google made directly, rather it's something I found interesting to the point of funny about Google.

For a start, let us step into the famous Google Search Engine, (mine is .sg):

Try typing "I am e" - e.g. I was trying to type "I am extremely bored" but do not complete the sentence:

I am extremely terrified of chinese people!!! OMG!!! Are we that terrifying???

Now try "Google is"...

OMG Google is going to take over the world! Not really much of a news, judging by the way how it rules the Web now.

Okay since we're at Google, why not Microsoft? Let us try "Microsoft is " (with the space)...

Microsoft is dead - certainly a scam for now. :P

Now we can create our own jokes in Google - what's yours?

A quote from nowhere from my mind, thanks to Mr. Chang

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Same as just now

While reading my fellow Msia blogger friend's blog, in a response to his post, this is what I wrote:

Anyway, in the search for yourself, do not lose yourself.

Non-personal topics - Football and Technology

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] Some familiar song but I do not know the title (from radio)

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Chicken Rice / Iced Tea

First on football, people who knows me do know I'm a Manchester United FC supporter and thus major rivals' downfall should be my glee. Not this time though, upon seeing Liverpool stumble to their 4th consecutive defeat, it's hard to imagine how such a top-class team could come out like that. Of course, it isn't news to any football person that the engines of Liverpool are Steven Gerrald and Fernando Torres, which to Liverpool fans' dismay are both injured. This spun a great deal for any hope in any team playing with Liverpool, and with Sunderland winning them with some luck due to the referee's incompetence to stop the game due to a beach ball and with Lyon winning with substitutes in the Champions' League, Liverpool will certainly face the heat and scrutiny of many. With the coming week's big match of Liverpool vs Man Utd, this is certainly one loss they can avoid catching, and if the 5th defeat is imminent, we might expect to see some changes in the managerial room for Liverpool.

Next on IT, I was reading articles on Ars Technica when I found a convenient flash presentation done by Microsoft about introducing the appropriate laptop for users. They even do some educating on their part so that users will possibly know what the various terms like Processor, RAM and Video Graphics are. Here is the link:

PC Scout

Of course, note the part they mentioned about Vista, and any IT guy knows they are bu||$hitting. Of course again, please get any system with Vista Home Premium and beyond to get the free Windows 7 equivalent upgrade (which in many testers' opinion is much better than Vista).

Oh well, time to throw my link to those who wants to know more!

Baby I'm amazed by you (Mozilla) - a techie post

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None at the moment, unless you are talking about the title which rings in my brain

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Milo

From ComputerWorld:

"Apple gets best spot in EU browser 'ballot screen,' Mozilla says"
"Safari for Windows shouldn't get first place on Microsoft's proposed ballot, Firefox maker argues"

Just because Microsoft sorted it in the parent company's alphabetical order. Of course, fair say to mention it "should" be sorted according to market share or (maybe) security, but it gets to the point you get a feeling that Mozilla is whining they ain't getting the best treatment.

Under Microsoft, this is what you will get:

(Apple) Safari
(Google) Chrome
(Microsoft) Internet Explorer
(Mozilla) Firefox
(Opera) Opera

If it's the browser's alphabetical order:

Chrome (Google)
Firefox (Mozilla)
Internet Explorer (Microsoft)
Opera (Opera)
Safari (Apple)

Both ways and Mozilla doesn't get first slot. The Commission has reasoned market share is not the way to go as the original indictment was due to "unfair automatic" installation of "recommended" Internet Explorer without giving users a choice of other browsers. Maybe random slots? Well, though processor cycles are cheap nowadays, but to me it's a waste of coding to include code to do the randomization, though it's very simple.

No one can be happy with such a case, and for certain Microsoft isn't that happy with so much whining going about. After all, it's a stupid case to begin with since it's MS's Windows and they should have the choice to insert only their own browser as default - it's not as if they do not allow other browsers to be installed. Only the tech savvy will usually take other browsers and for those who aren't, I don't really think they care what browser they use so long it suits their objective. Then again, IE is not the most secure or fastest around, maybe that's what they are arguing all along.

But then again, isn't Windows a Microsoft product? Sounds like someone's forcing me to use other brands of flour when I have my preferred and "recommended" brand of flour that I use for my cake, as an analogy.

Silence or Weirdo?

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Fried Fish Bee Hoon / Pokka Premium Milk Tea

Recently 2 things have crossed my path that made me wonder if I speak a little too much for my own good.

The first incident happened on Saturday when I was at my older godsis (Berlinda) place fixing her PC. She mentioned something about the past, which made me react in a nonchalant way - she said that if she could change the past to do things differently, it would have been better and things won't be what it is now. I turned and responded, saying that if she could change the past, the world will be in for disaster. I guess she wasn't too happy with me using the word "disaster" so she replied that only her family will be affected for the good (in her opinion) and questioned how it would have affected others.

Reason being, anything being done at a moment, affects not only yourself but any other person around you, and any other person/thing being directly/indirectly related to it. The thing to change for her was about her sister having to give up on her diploma when she has good grades to go for it. So then, I reacted by responding that yes, if her sis had went for the diploma things would have changed but not only for her family but also the "last person" who managed to get in the course at the sister's expense of not going for the course.

Her response: "That's natural, my sister has better grades so he or she should just give way and my sister deserves it!"

Well, it's factually and logically true, but realistically it didn't happen. Just kinda amused and appalled the way she said it. My point is, if one can change the past, it does not only affect one person but many other people, incidents and factors - if everyone can choose to change their past, the world would be in chaos! I guess her emotions got the better of her and we carried on a 5 minute so-called quarrel (which to me is at most an argument) about this.

Maybe I should have just shut up.

The next one was a short conversation between SJ and I about having additional 24 hours in a day. My thought was that having an extra 24 hours ain't good at all, it just means you do more and get tired more. This didn't generate any big response as SJ mentioned she wanted another 24 hours for herself, but sometimes I do wonder whether I'm speaking too much for my own good.

As what she said, the world ain't changing for any of us.

Future of Gaming?

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine, TGIF

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Nasi Lemak / Pearl Milk Tea

My dear reminded me I've not blogged about our KL trip, sorry dear it slipped my mind. I'll get it up as soon as the mood allows me :)

Anyway the highlight of the blog post:

From Ars Technica:
"AMD unveiled its next-generation GPU architecture at an event today aboard the USS Hornet—2.5 teraFLOPS of floating-point power, or well over twice the company's current high-end cards...OTOY's demo of Crysis running on an iPhone was probably the most profoundly intriguing use of AMD's upcoming GPU that I saw all evening."

"Ok, I know that 90 percent of you just did a double-take—Crysis, the standard gaming benchmark for high-end 3D hardware, running on a next-gen GPU on an iPhone?"

Wow, it seems that the editor did have a good view of this to come, and apparently IT WORKS. This view about offering gaming through the network has been covered by Ars Technica, and I don't mean just "MMORPG". I meant playing just about ANY game while being networked. This idea works as the game renders over at server side and sends compressed packets over to the client (in this test case, an iPhone) for generating the display. Inputs will be sent back to the server by whatever you did on the iPhone.

What seems a vision of impeccable possibility, suddenly becomes less of a dream and more of a reality. In time to come, we will certain live in a world like The Matrix. This gaming idea holds big, so we'll see how things come by.

Clearing up my desk...

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Curry Chicken Rice / Pearl Milk Tea

Just now, I figure it's the last straw - my desk's too messy for its own good and I had to clear up. Even as I have felt "the change of tide" in the company, I think I need some tidying up and also to clear up unnecessary stuff on the desk.

Well, it seems that some memories of the past are hidden somewhere, and I just have to bring it home tonight and keep it somewhere, or possibly throw them away - I have not made a decision about that. One of the items happen to be New Year cards that Cellie sent me 2 years back - when I was leaving them on the partition wall I felt a bit funny, and as I was thinking of removing it, I knew why - cos her current boyfriend is actually sitting right behind me. Felt kinda weird to leave those things around so I decided to bring them down.

Which comes to the topic of the Cellie incident happened a few months back that caused quite a bit of problems between my dear and I. Of course, many onlookers might've felt it's my fault for planning such a thing, but I always think I should be given benefit of a doubt (yeah right, ppl said). I wouldn't want to elaborate much since it's a forgone thing, but the aftertaste felt familiar - it felt so much like the Brad-Cellie incident the last time where she said she is not ready for a relationship and soon after she got together with Brad. This time round, she told me on the last 2 days before the trip she is unable to make it for the weekend due to family issues and kind of canceled the entire trip (cos I was pretty tired over the whole thing and told her to cancel it if it gets too draggy). Ok fine, we canceled it without a second thought of postponing (in fact, it was postponed earlier because Alicia wasn't able to make it - in fact, this trip was to get Cellie to know Alicia) and soon after, I got to know that both Gabriel (her current bf which that point of time I didn't know of their relationship) and her went to the same area the following week.

That was a bad aftertaste, it smacked me right in the face. If she told me right in the face there were some concerns from her other half (well no one really knew of their r/s), even though it can be given a benefit of doubt that this wasn't truly the reason (but I pretty certain more or less that it is a contributing factor), then to be fair, yeah fine, I understand - no normal guy can stand the gf going on a journey up north with another guy...and of course, this reason was the exact reason why my dear and I had a quarrel over about. Anyway, it was a real smack on face I was "rejected" on one weekend and she disappeared over the next weekend to the same place...which I pondered deep - did she even appreciate the fact I tried to arrange to meet up a KL friend for her so that her KL trips up north wouldn't be that bored? Then again - this is a no-brainer concern anymore since she has her lovely boyfriend now.

The past is past, I don't even think of repeating a similar feat which is so damn stupid. Whichever reasons of anyone who thinks of whatever thoughts I had at that point of time, and whether my views were legitimate, I have already rest my case and moved on. After this post, I will strive to make this incident a REAL PAST just like how I did for the Brad-Cellie incident. It's so often after I blogged about it that I decided to move on from the issue.

Still felt stupid, I should have just gone up to meet Alicia by myself...haha. So by now I've cleared my desk, and also cleared my thoughts - on forward with my Dear! :)

Cascada - Evacuate the Dancefloor!

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine, a bit tired, headache

[CuRRent Song:] Cascada - Evacuate the Dancefloor

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Fish + Rice / Water

Cascada - Evacuate the Dancefloor

Turn up the music
Let's get out on the floor
I'll let it move it
Come and give me some more
Watch me getting physical and out of control
There's people watching me
I never miss a beat

Steal the night
Kill the lights
Feel it under your skin
Time is right
Keep it tight
Cos it's pulling you in
Wrap it up
Can't stop cos it feels like a overdose
(Feels like an overdose)

Oh, oh, evacuate the dancefloor
Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound
Oh, oh, stop, this beat is killing me
Hey Mister DJ let the music take me underground

(Everybody in the club!)
Oh, oh, evacuate the dancefloor
Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound
(Everybody in the club!)
Oh, oh, stop, this beat is killing me
Hey Mister DJ come burn this place right down to the ground

My body's aching
System overload
Temperature's rising
I'm about to explode
Watch me I'm intoxicated
Taking the show
It got me hypnotized
Everybody step aside

Steal the night
Kill the lights
Feel it under your skin
Time is right
Keep it tight
Cos it's pulling you in
Wrap it up
Can't stop cos it feels like a overdose
(Feels like an overdose)

Oh, oh, evacuate the dancefloor
Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound
Oh, oh, stop, this beat is killing me
Hey Mister DJ let the music take me underground

(Everybody in the club!)
Oh, oh, evacuate the dancefloor
Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound
(Everybody in the club!)
Oh, oh, stop, this beat is killing me
Hey Mister DJ come burn this place right down to the ground

Come on and evacuate
Feel the clubbers heating up
Move on and accelerate
Push it to the top
Come on and evacuate
Feel the clubbers heating up
Move on and accelerate
You don't have to be afraid

Now guess who's back with a brand new track
That got everybody in the club going mad
So everybody in the back get your back up on the wall
And just shake that thang
Go crazy, yo lady, yo baby
Let me see you work that thing
Now drop it down low, low
Let me see you take it to the dancefloor, yo

(Everybody in the club!)
Evacuate the dancefloor
(Everybody in the club!)
I'm infected by the sound
(Everybody in the club!)
Stop, this beat is killing me
Hey Mister DJ let the music take me underground

Oh, oh, evacuate the dancefloor
Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound
Oh, oh, stop, this beat is killing me
Hey Mister DJ let the music take me underground

(Everybody in the club!)
Oh, oh, evacuate the dancefloor
Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound
(Everybody in the club!)
Oh, oh, stop, this beat is killing me
Hey Mister DJ come burn this place right down to the ground

This emphasizes her vocals!

From Mr. Chang, the Msia blogger

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Mushroom Swiss Meal / Pearl Milk Tea

This is yet again from Alicia's bro...another "woman thing"...maybe you ppl had heard/read before but oh well...

9 Words Common to Women

1. Fine
This is the word women use to end an argument when they think they are right no matter what and you need to shut up.

2. Five minutes
If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour to one hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if she tells you that you have been given five more minutes to watch the football game before getting your sorry ass up from the couch to help around the house.

3. Nothing
This is the calm before the storm. This means something and you should be on your toes, and you're almost considered fucked. Keep asking until she gives you a different reply other than "nothing". If you do not continue asking, you're fucked as well.

Arguments that begins with nothing usually ends in fine.
(Refer back to #1 for the meaning of fine)

4. Go ahead
This is a dare, not persmission. Don't do it or you're fucked.

5. Loud sigh
This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you're an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing.
(Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing)

6. That's OK
This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's OK means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

So it's NOT OK.

7. Thanks
When a women is thanking you, do not question or faint. Just say "You're welcome". Unless she says "Thanks a lot" - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "you're welcome" because that will bring on a "whatever".
(Refer to to #8 for the meaning of whatever)

8. Whatever
It is a women's way of saying "Screw you".

9. Don't worry about it, I got it
Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a women has told a man to do several times but she's now doing it hreself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" and to be greeted with a "nothing".

Then, you're fucked.
(Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing)

[CuRRent Song:] Boney M - Sunny

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] McChicken / Coke

Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.
Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain.
The dark days are gone, and the bright days are here,
My sunny one shines so sincere.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

Sunny, thank you for the sunshine bouquet.
Sunny, thank you for the love you brought my way.
You gave to me your all and all.
Now I feel ten feet tall.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

Sunny, thank you for the truth you let me see.
Sunny, thank you for the facts from a to c.
My life was torn like a windblown sand,
And the rock was formed when you held my hand.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

Sunny, thank you for the smile upon your face.
Sunny, thank you for the gleam that shows it's grace.
You're my spark of nature's fire,
You're my sweet complete desire.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.
Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain.
The dark days are gone, and the bright days are here,
My sunny one shines so sincere.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.

There were two versions - I prefer this one.

Retro time! Earth, Wind and Fire!

[CuRRent MooD:] Average

[CuRRent Song:] Earth, Wind and Fire - September (in my head)

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] As per previous entry

It's yet another Retro time, starting with...

Do you remember the 21st night of september?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stay

Now december found the love that we shared in september.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the true love we share today

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days

Let this groove, get you to move,
it's alright, alright
let this groove, set in your shoes,
stand up, alright

Gonna tell you what you can do,
with my love, alright
Let you know girl you're looking good
you're out of sight and alright

Move yourself and glide like a 747
loos yourself in the sky among the clouds in the heavens

Let this groove, light up your fuse, alright
Let this groove, set in your shoes

stand up, alright
Let me tell you what you can do
with my love, alright

Gotta let you know girl you're looking good
you're out of sight, you're alright

Tell the DJ to play your favorite tune
then you know it's okay
What you found is happiness, now

Let this groove, get you to move, alright
Let this groove set in your shoes
stand up, alright

You will find peace of mind on the floor
Take a little time, come and see, you and me
make a little sign, I'll be there after a while
if you want my love

We can boogie on down, down, down, down
Let's groove tonight
share the spice of life
baby slice it right
we're gonna groove tonight

Dance boogie wonderland
Dance boogie wonderland
Midnight creeps so slowly into hearts,
Of men who need more than they get
Daylight deals a bad hand,
To a woman that has laid to many bets

The mirror stares you in the face and says
Baby, uh uh it dont work
You say your prayers through you dont care
You dance and shake the hurt
Dance boogie wonderland
Dance boogie wonderland

Sound fly through the night
I chase my vinyl drams to boogie wonderland
I find romance when I start to dance in boogie wonderland
I find romance when I start to dance in boogie wonderland

All the love in the world cant be gone
All the need to be loved cant be wrong
All the records are playing
And my heart keeps saying
Boogie wonderland, wonderland
Dance boogie wonderland
Dance boogie wonderland

All the love in the world cant be gone
All the need to be loved cant be wrong
All the records are playing
And my heart keeps saying
Boogie wonderland, wonderland
Dance boogie wonderland
Dance boogie wonderland

Jay Lehr - I'm Alive

Black over my heart
And the flame of a star on fire
Back right from the start
I just wanna take over again my life

Wanna shine bright
Nobody else is gonna take this chance for me
Let my mind fly
Wanna feel now and forever
Just like tonight

I'm alive
Don't wanna lose again
My luck (Love), let's celebrate freedom now
I'm alive
I've got my special way
To let all the feelings go wild
I'm alive
Don't wanna lose again
My luck (Love), let's celebrate freedom now
I'm alive
I've got my special way
To let all the feelings go wild
I'm alive

Go right to the beat
And enjoy life is just a ride
Out into the street
There's a way you can go make you feel so right

With the arrival of the new Maple patch, hackshield screwed up the progress we had in Virtualbox and the virtual machines. It seems that now it gives funny errors that I have no solution for now.

Of course, dismissing the issues, my KoC character is already level 31 :) and slowly becoming stronger :) haha

Suddenly I realised I have lots to read. Haha.

Updates for Random MS Information (Virtualization and Hackshield?)

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Milo

From a discussion forum online...

"Multi-core based computers are at a significant disadvantage since Hackshield does not work well with the efficiency at which they work. This forces the user to have to use only one core of its multi-core system. (This is called setting the affinity under Windows XP.) Another issue is that HackShield is a memory hog. Gamers that use on-board graphics could see significant reduction in game play to the point of crashing."

I do not know the true nature and the validity, but my next attempt is to force my guest to run single-core. Will see how it goes.

-- UPDATE @ 2020 hours --

Nope, doesn't work. Still detects as hacking regardless of whether I set affinity to one processor or set priority to high. Well, the CPU I tried is only running on HT (Pentium it even 2 core? I doubt so.), so I do not know if that made a difference. I'll have a last go on my laptop which runs 2 cores (core2duo).

-- UPDATE @ 26 Jul, 1725 hours --

Nope again, not on a Core2Duo either. Guess it's up to AHNLabs...(if they ever bother) to make this work.

Interesting finding on expenditure in US (IT related)

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Milo

From Ars Technica:

Apple nabs 91% of "premium" computer revenue in June

"Apple may have less than 10 percent of the US computer market in terms of unit sales, but it's still grabbing a much larger percentage of US computer revenue, according to the latest numbers from NPD."

"For the month of June, slightly more than 9 out of every 10 dollars spent on a computer over $1,000 went to Apple."

Anyway these figures are based on USD. Come to think, Apple systems are never cheap do they grab the lower half anyway??? They are not cheap, they can only grab that section of the market. True, this article is talking more about their premium product and quality. I wouldn't want to start a war of Apple VS Microsoft, but to me its always comparing Apples to Oranges.

If Apple was the one which start off brightly and business-centric like Microsoft, do you think we will be complaining about Microsoft's rubbish today? I believe Apple will fall in the same fate like Microsoft.

[CuRRent MooD:] Resigned

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Jelly?

Well, how true can this get? Some time ago my mum was agitated and frustrated with the way my brother is not working (or the lack of it) plus the fact that when my dad wasn't around he wasn't helping out a lot with the market trips and stuff. In her exasperation, she told me to take the DS Lite with me which I lent from my dear last time to spend my time while I am on public transport (well thanks to my dear, I'm reading LoTR). Since I'm not playing it anymore, I returned it to my dear.

Guess what? Before I know it, he borrowed a PSP from his gf, stating the point the gf is getting a PSP 3000.

So they say, nothing is impossible so long you try hard enough...

How true that is. Haiz.

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Milo

With VirtualBox 3.0x which supports DirectX renders from hardware acceleration, it is now possible to run Maple from guest WinXP OSes. Problem is, hackshield will detect as a hack to occur. Still trying to figure out if it can be circumvented by legal means i.e. not hacking hackshield itself.

I'll post some screenshots if possible, after all I may put up an article about it.

A tribute to the King of Pop - Michael Jackson

[CuRRent MooD:] Sadded

[CuRRent Song:] Britney Spears - Womanizer (in my mind it's Mike's songs)

It is so sad to know that King of Pop Michael Jackson passed away with suspected cardiac arrest. Here is a tribute for him...

The official site:
Michael Jackson - The Official Site

The Wiki site:
Wikipedia - Michael Jackson

As I said to my friend, I hoped his last moments was a quick death and not a painful one lasting for minutes. There might have been so much about his off-the-scene things, but to me he's forever my King of Pop, forever Michael Jackson, and is forever the one and only King of Pop.

Let me go search some youtube vids and bid our last farewell to the Pop Icon, Michael Jackson.

I think some embeds are disabled by default, so...

Beat It

Once again, Rest In Peace, Michael Jackson. You will be remembered.

Another ethics vs actual punishment case...

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Spicy Chicken Noodle / Pearl Milk Tea

Case in topic: Retrial of Jammie Thomas-Rasset ends with massive fine imposed on her

Thomas verdict: willful infringement, $1.92 million penalty - with links to the whole retrial at the end
Analysis: $1.92M fine in music piracy case could hurt RIAA

What began as a first trial with damages linked to $220,000 becomes $1.92 million worth of damages awarded to RIAA on the retrial - something that we can imagine when linking to an internet crime or stealing of music - but all for 24 songs being shared out from the defendant's PC. 24 songs for 1.92 million? I'm pretty sure my dear Emil Chau does not need to work for subsequent lives ahead if money can carry over to next lives.

Right view of case: She did share out 24 songs, in the case they mentioned are downloaded copies and does not have a legal copy of (means she does not own a copy of the CD or purchased from authorised sources). In prosecutor's view, these 24 songs are potentially shared amongst thousands of users, leading to a slapping of a fine of $80,000 per song and thus amounting to $1.92 million. So yes, she did commit a crime by downloading and sharing the songs, in law and ethics she's wrong.

Opposing view of case: 24 songs for $1.92 million? That's like saying being fined millions for stealing a CD, or hang on the rope for stealing (ehm, sounds like some other country does it). Even for the first case, fining $220,000 for 24 songs on a commoner sounds insane. How long will it take for me to pay $220,000, let alone $1.92 million? It's obviously pushing the defendant to bankruptcy. People mentioned she could be jailed, but based on what I read, this is a civil case and not criminal, thus liable to fines. I think a sane, normal person prefers to be jailed for this one.

Debating view of case: People are not talking about defendant being "innocent" or "guilty" but more of the $220,000 or $1.92 million. I think there's a lot of holes in this case, since the defendant claimed she did not see the warning messages that Kazaa (this was the p2p software that caused her problems) gave her. Some would think she's on purpose to feign innocence by claiming she was not using the PC, or she did not receive warnings, thus being slapped with such a fine...but $1.92 million is overly ridiculous. If they doubled or tripled the original, say $660,000 just to remind her that evidence shows she did commit a crime and re-emphasizing the power of the law, it sounds sensible but...almost 2mil? It's almost 10 times the fine imposed on the first trial to a commoner!

Oh well, after seeing all the evidence and stuff, while I won't say she's right, but certainly the amount is ridiculous.

Now on site doing setup of PCs, so still got a bit of spare time. Actually I wanted to blog a lot about my Maplestory progress, making of images and videos associated, but I was too busy held with work, gf and Pat's montage.

Pple asked me if montage is actually an English word - actually I don't know. I'll check now.

From Wikipedia:

Montage (from the French for "putting together") most often refers to collage including photomontage and sound collage.
Montage is a technique in film editing that can refer to:
montage (filmmaking), a filmmaking technique which uses rapid editing, special effects and music to present compressed narrative information

So it's French! Anyway it has been tough as this is the very first montage I've ever done...and since it's for my beloved Pat sis, the stress just piles on me...wondering if I can finish on time and still looking okay (both seems to be a problem now) later I have to rush home and continue doing!

At least now the PC is installing patches...the downloads took a bloody long time...zzz

Oh well, guess I'll stop here for now. Duno what else to say ;)

Updates for myself (can I finish this?)

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine, a little tired

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies topic is due the fact my previous post wasn't completed! Anyway I've popped this entry as a quick update to my life (if any) which is at best exciting and at worst boring.

First update, I have my Maplestory character reaching level 115, just 5 levels left to my 4th job (which is cool-assed Shadower). I'll post tube vids to show the coolness :) as for my dear's character, she's level 98, 2 levels away from the elusive 100 and 22 from 4th job (opps)...well, her 4th job is a boon and coveted by many.

I've noticed so far I've not seen a clip which features the variety of skills that Shadower (along its 2nd - 3rd job), so once I've seen one or up to it I'll create one!

Lemme think...end of March I went to JJ Lim's concert with my dear and till now she's swooning over it everytime JJ is being mentioned...oh well, I guess she really enjoyed the concert. :) come to think of it, I'm still waiting for the pics so I can post something

And of course, out from one of the links being circulated in Facebook, here is Susan Boyle from Britain's Got Talent:

Some interesting quotes from Kelly's webby (lifestream):

"I am not in favor of immortality. I believe death for humans is the way of getting rid of accumulated errors - as in trial and error. Without death, the old folks would start to gang up on the babies (the new trials). Immortality ---> immortal mistakes." -- Esther Dyson

"As you make a prototype, assume you are right and everyone else is wrong. When you share your prototype, assume you are wrong and everyone else is right." - Diego Rodriguez

Lady Gaga - Just Dance feat. Colby O'Donis & Akon

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] As per title (on my mind)

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Dried Fish Fillet / Iced Lemon Tea

Song of the moment (not playing actually)

Lady Gaga feat. Colby O'Donis & Akon
Just Dance

RedOne, Konvict
GaGa, oh-oh, eh

I've had a little bit too much, much
All of the people start to rush, start to rush by
A dizzy twisted dance, can't find my drink, oh man
Where are my keys? I lost my phone, phone

What's going on on the floor?
I love this record baby but I can't see straight anymore
Keep it cool, what's the name of this club?
I can't remember but it's alright, a-alright

Just dance, gonna be okay, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, spin that record babe, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, gonna be okay, d-d-d-dance
Dance, dance, just, j-j-just dance

Wish I could shut my playboy mouth, oh oh oh-oh
How'd I turn my shirt inside out? Inside outright
Control your poison babe, roses have thorns they say
And we're all getting hosed tonight, oh oh oh-oh

What's going on on the floor?
I love this record baby but I can't see straight anymore
Keep it cool, what's the name of this club?
I can't remember but it's alright, a-alright

Just dance, gonna be okay, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, spin that record babe, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, gonna be okay, d-d-d-dance
Dance, dance, just, j-j-just

When I come through on the dance floor checkin' out that catalog
Can't believe my eyes, so many women without a flaw
And I ain't gon' give it up, steady tryin' to pick it up like a car
I'ma hit it, I'ma hit it and flex and do it until tomorr' yeah

Shawty I can see that you got so much energy
The way you're twirlin' up them hips 'round and 'round
And now there's no reason at all why you can't leave here with me
In the meantime stay and let me watch you break it down

And dance, gonna be okay, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, spin that record babe, da da doo-doo-mmm

Just dance, gonna be okay, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, spin that record babe, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, gonna be okay, d-d-d-dance
Dance, dance, just, j-j-just dance

Woo! Let's go!

Half psychotic, sick, hypnotic
Got my blueprint, it's symphonic
Half psychotic, sick, hypnotic
Got my blueprint electronic

Half psychotic, sick, hypnotic
Got my blueprint, it's symphonic
Half psychotic, sick, hypnotic
Got my blueprint electronic

Go! Use your muscle, carve it out, work it, hustle
I got it, just stay close enough to get it
Don't slow! Drive it, clean it, Lysol, bleed it
Spend the last dough
(I got it)
In your pocko
(I got it)

Just dance, gonna be okay, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, spin that record babe, da da doo-doo-mmm

Just dance, gonna be okay, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, spin that record babe, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, gonna be okay, d-d-d-dance
Dance, dance, just, j-j-just dance

- end of lyrics -

Yeah, many people said the lyrics doesn't make sense. Well I think its mood is based on the club, so that made sense to me. :)

Sometimes I wonder how it'll be like if I took a totally different route off my work life

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] Duno

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Famous Amos Cookies (2nd pack in a wk...OMG) / Pokka Mint Green Tea

As I was going through so many articles nowadays, I can't help but wonder that now's an exciting time for developers as so many tools are available.

When I started out on my home's 2nd hand 386 DX26 (or was it 33, correct me big bro), all I knew of a computer is that it is something that somehow makes gaming consoles possible. I often looked at them like windows to gaming (please, no pun intended) as my second bro got the first nintendo back home and played Castlevania 2 like no tomorrow till he completed the game, then got on to a Japanese RPG known as DragonQuest III. It was the latter that got us so crazy we can remember many japanese terms and even most of the mazes in the game we needn't have the guidebook with us!

Anyway back to what I was saying. So when I got my bum into Nan Hua Secondary, it didn't take long before my interest kindled when I saw booklets which has game code written in the ZBasic and GWBasic (QBasic being an MS variant, is largely but not fully compatible much of the time) languages, that triggered something in me that never seemed to have gone away throughout the years.

The passion to create games. From then, I learnt code straight from the booklets (they are coding booklets, not guidebooks or manuals) and developed my small little games which reside in the small confinements of the PC, only making its existence known to my secondary school friends in the Computer Club. I recalled making a text-based RPG style of Battleship which you can issue commands of different weapons to sink other ships.

Flash pass a few years later, I got myself directly into Singapore Polytechnic in DCIS (Diploma in Computer Information Systems). I got distinctions for 2 programming modules, notably Structured Programming using Pascal (no one uses it much anymore nowadays but to me the lecturer helped me plenty to establish my base and knowledge, as well as fuelling the interest) as well as Data Structures and Algorithms using C (I was a lil surprised with this one, but it was a nice one). Unfortunately whichever is non-programming I tend to suck at them (exception being Business Studies which I got an A) and even stayed back for a full year and wasted my parents' money :(...well, I guess in life there's always a reason for everything.

I guess it would've been good if I've pursued my life on my interest, but somehow life doesn't work the way you want, maybe for special reasons. Instead of programming, I took up desktop support for my first job (and for now, possibly my career). Many poly frens of mine asked why I didn't take up a programming job, and all I can say is "programmers have no life". At a point of time in NS, I wanted to take up a Games programming degree course, but the expenses were hefty (SGD$30,000) and I can ill afford that, so I gave up.

4 years later, I'm now doing desktop support in general plus a few here and there. But the interest for games programming never died...sometimes I wonder.

If I put my heart into developing my programming skills, what would I be now?

However, there is no "ifs" in history.

Didn't know I can be so tired

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine but tired

[CuRRent Song:] Duno

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Mentos / Plain water

And tired I am. Seriously, I didn't know I can be so tired. Was thinking of taking a half day, but I have to endure...there isn't much half days for me to take.

What a torrid day.

Speechless for now.

I guess often the biggest hits in my life...

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] Duno

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Mixed "vege" rice / Pokka Lemon 1000 about losing friends. I never liked to lose friends, esp. when you tend to think that it's due to misunderstandings or something. Of course, many people will tell me if such friends are worth it if they just throw me in the lurch after something happens or just decides to end the whole thing just of a disagreement in matters.

I don't know, it seems I don't have an answer for now.

Coast is clear :)

[CuRRent MooD:] Glad, tired

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Fried fish ball / Water

Oh well, I'm glad things are okay for now. What I'm still unhappy about is probably some other feeling that came along with this repercussion.

I guess in life, sometimes you cannot put too much trust in ppl especially when emotions are concerned. Emotions will in the end be the deciding factor to kill the others. Brought me back to 10 years back when trust was betrayed by self-righteousness.

Come to think, is the truth the ultimatum? Do we seek in life to know all truth?

It is the case, isn't it? I would like to rest my case for now. Too tired to think of it.

The depth of the hard to justify.

[CuRRent MooD:] Screwed

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Duno

Whatever the case, now only idiots and sympathizers would think I'm right, if they have known what happened.

Oh well, I kept on saying "there's no right or wrong".

I'm just wrong.

Feeling-less. Exasperated. Vexed. Puzzled.

[CuRRent MooD:] Look at the bloody title...

[CuRRent Song:] CD spinning sounds...

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Don't wanna remember

'nuff said. Even the mood of talking about how I got my Zakum Helm and putting pics up is gone.

Going for Zakum Helming tonight!!!

[CuRRent MooD:] Excited

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Mixed 'Vege' Rice /Pokka Mint Green Tea

Heehee...tonight is an exciting night...wish me luck! For the ppl whom are not sure of what I'm talking about, Zakum is a major boss in Maplestory. It drops a helmet which provides a healthy boost of stats for the character!

Short update + another LoTR quote

[CuRRent MooD:] Fine

[CuRRent Song:] Duno

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Mixed 'Vege' Rice + Pokka Lemon 1000

If anyone has seen my current MSN nick, it reflects some current nicknames of mine.

I have now "Chan Chan", which is what Dear calls me by. "Lulu", though not the first, but currently held by the ppl at the SubContracts department. Also I have "666"(六六六), held by HR staff in GSK last time.

In the past I had aplenty, including Psycho, Lovesaint (情圣 - yeah I know vomit ba), Meow...ehm what else can I think of eh...oh yeah, the Milkula and stuff...LOL

Anyway, yet another quotation from Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship Of The Ring - this was extracted from the moments of the letter left by Gandalf at Bree which they were resting at the inn and being pursued by Black Riders:

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

I liked the first two verses though. It speaks of things that cannot be simply assumed to be always in its active state or of a common conception. Of course, the later verses are more related to the story, but nevertheless can also be taken in or out of context in ways possible.

Oh well, wait for my next update ba.

And yeah, thanks to all that attended my Bday party @ Dbl O!

Reading up Lord of The Rings - Book 1, Fellowship of The Ring

[CuRRent MooD:] Stressed but a little better

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Pearl Milk Tea

Well, kinda surprised myself to actually read LoTR...but well, all thanks to my dear who loves to read...I think I shall have little issues cultivating my children to read next time :P

Anyway, my post is to quote something that I believe in much of the time:

"...Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends. " - Gandalf the Grey in a conversation with Frodo with regards to treatment given to Gollum.

I believe that as humans, we make the mistake of passing judgement too quickly.

Damn stressed.

[CuRRent MooD:] Stressed

[CuRRent Song:] None

[Last FooD/BeveRage:] Milo

Very stressed about projectwork for final module. Wonder why I have to be selected as PM and get stressed for such shit and having to cover all fronts. Right or not also the same. Damn sickening.
